SBM-U Archives - 29th March 2025The 13th National Advisory and Review Committee (NARC) under the chairmanship of Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA approved action plans of Rs. 1025 crores of proposals for setting up sanitation infrastructure, solid waste processing facilities, UWM, IEC and capacity building of 10 States on Oct 29, 2024.On 4 June 2025, Shri Tokhan Sahu, MoS, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) met the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C.R. Patil to deliberate on matters concerning urban development and also emphasized collaborative approaches to improving urban infrastructure, sanitation, and water services. As part of the %u2018Teen Din, Teen Seva Karya%u2019 campaign, MoS, MoHUA, Shri Tokhan Sahu participated in a large-scale Swachhata Shramdaan at Krishna-Arjuni Pond in Ratanpur, Bilaspur, on March 29, 2025. In Tirupati, he inspected the Solid Waste Management Plant, assessed UGD restoration measures at Renigunta Road, and reviewed urban development initiatives at Sri City on 10 July 2025. Subsequently, in Hyderabad, he visited the Jawahar Nagar Integrated Facility to review Wasteto-Energy operations on 11 August 2025, focusing on scientific waste processing, energy generation, environmental safeguards, and reducing landfill dependency.A preparatory workshop on the Clean Himalayan Hill Cities Initiative was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on 16 December 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Presided over by the Secretary, MoHUA, Shri S. Katikithala, the initiative has brought together urban experts, technical agencies, private partners, technology solution providers, and senior representatives from the 13 North-Eastern and Himalayan hill cities. During this, the Housing and Urban Affairs Minister joined the citizens for the Shramdaan. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from people from all walks of life including officials, citizens, volunteers including Civil Defence and Safai Mitras, reaffirming the collective commitment towards the vision of a clean India.A massive %u2018Shramdaan%u2019 activity was undertaken, where participants wholeheartedly joined hands to clean the surroundings.
