As per Census 2011, India has an Urban population of 377 million (31% of the total population), out of which more than 8 million households don’t have access to toilets and thus, defecate in the open. Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) has brought the urban sanitation issue to the front line of the developmental agenda of the Central Government, for the first time.
